Heitz Vineyards has a well-earned reputation for producing high quality, distinctive Napa Valley wines, particularly Cabernets. The style is always full-bodied, well-extracted with immense structure. One of the unique aspects of their production is the length of time that they age their Cabs before release.
This Cab is barrel-aged 4 years in the cellar aging in French oak vessels both old and new. This allows the tannins to soften and the flavors to coalesce resulting in a wine that shows its full expression on release.
This is their latest release 2017, another excellent vintage for Napa Cab. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced primarily from two of their estate vineyards in St. Helena, the Only One Vineyard and the Spring Valley Vineyard. There is also some fruit from a vineyard in Rutherford, all certified organic. Alcohol14.0%
This wine shows the freshness and intensity that you would expect along with beautifully polished tannins and the concentration to age gracefully for another decade.
